I am being taken to court by Highview Parking Limited. They have DCBL Legal as their representatives. I have managed to get this far by filing a defence and filling out the DQ, by following the threads on this forum. I have now received an email inviting me to mediation. This is something I didn’t bank on and now I am a little stumped as to what to do next, some friendly advice would be really helpful, if anybody is willing to help it would be very much appreciated. Thank you in advance.

It is always worth while trying mediation.
No matter how good the defence, small claims track is a bit of a lottery.
The mediation process is quite painless and carried out by 'phone.
The parties don't contact each other directly, but the mediator shuffles between the them.
Recently DCBL have accepted offers of the original parking charge (£60), so if you are interested in that sort of figure offer a much lower amount.
Some people are relieved not to have to go to court, or just really can't afford the time (possibly hanging about all day for your hearing to take place)
Good luck

Thank you but I really don’t want to give them anything! It's the principle of the matter. I would much rather go to court and argue my case. I know there’s a huge risk of losing but I’d rather lose and feel better about myself.
Also if I make an offer, I’m admitting guilt.Last edited by Shaneb659; 27th November 2024, 19:00:PM.

In that case you might inform the mediator when you answer the phone that you are only interested in the other party discontinuing their claim.
Making an offer does not admit anything, except a desire to bring and end to the matter outside the court process.
This is not a criminal case about law breaking, and does not involve a fine
It is purely a civil case concerning the an alleged breach contract and concerns a speculative invoice.
if you want any assistance, feel free to post on this thread
