  • Parking eye PCN

I visited a local hospital recently and received a PCN from parking eye a while later . The PCN shows my car entering the hospital car park at 15.37.50 and leaving at 16.48.32.
On entering the car park there were no spaces and it took around 5 minutes to park. When using the ticket machine,I was shown a photograph of my car with the message no ticket required at this - 20 minutes free parking. I entered the hospital and was told by a member of staff that to be safe a ticket was required. Again using the machine (entering registration) I received the same message twice until eventually I got the option to purchase a ticket. The ticket was purchased at 15.58.29. As I had paid for 1 hour, when I left the car park my ticket was still valid untill 15.58.
I appealed and Parking eye say " the tariff purchased was insufficient and does not cover the entire duration of the stay"
Do I understand that no free 20 minutes has been allowed and that their is no leeway on parking and obtaining a ticket ?
It seems I am being penalised for 1 minute based on the camera entry and exit times ?

Set up to fail!... typical of parking companies

Can you please post up a copy of the notice (remove identifying details but leave in all dates and times.

Pictures of the signs would be useful if easily available

I've been back to the hospital and found the parking metre displays a message " Pay on Exit" I didn't notice this and accepted that I had 20 minutes free as shown on the screen
Once I was told by a member of staff " best to get a ticket" I paid at 15.58.29 on that day, within the 20 free minutes. the ticket states 1 hour @£2.
The PCN shows I was in car park 1 hour 10 minutes, Camera shows me entering 15.37.50 and leaving 16.48.32. So essentially 1 hour 11 minutes, but within the ticket which was valid until 16.58. I am confused, has the free 20 minutes not been applied, and if the system is to pay on exit, why was I given a ticket for 1 hour duration ?

Without seeing the small print on the different signs it is impossible to say.
However often these companies offer a free period, perhaps 20 or 30 mins, but if the driver opts to pay for a period of parking that will not be in addition to the free period but includes it.
A system set up for the inattentive driver to fail!

Now if you can post up the PCN and photos of those signs we can indicate your options
