Hi I'm asking for my brother he was involved in an rtc in November last year when he hit a parked car (nobody was hurt). A passing police vehicle stopped and got both cars recovered, he was understandably shocked at that time and gratefull for the assistance. No mention of charges was mentioned nor was he cautioned. He received a summons to court on Friday stating he's was charged with due care and attention and has to plead guilty or go to court. This doesn't sound right to me and I advised him to contact a solicitor but he has little spare money and might not be able to afford one. I would be grateful for any advice I can pass on to him to help with this matter many thanks in advance Paul

No "Notice of Intended Prosecution" or warning is required in the event of an accident.
The definition of Careless Driving is that which "...falls below what would be expected of a competent and careful driver." Of course, competent and careful drivers do not collide with parked cars, so he would be well advised to plead guilty.
