  • Access only parking.

Hi everyone looking for some help I park my works van on a road opposite a row of bungalows and have notes put on my windscreen saying only residents can park there and as I live on a small cul de sac off this road am I able to park here or not? On the entrance to the road it states on a sign except for access with a motorbike and car on top?

Local vigilantes applying their own interpretation of road regulations.

The sign says what it means in either language, and nothing more.
Generally used to stop the road being used as a through route or "rat run".

As long as your vehicle is insured, licenced, MoT'd (if required) and roadworthy and there are no parking restrictions, you are allowed to park there

Unless it's private land. If you go to the Land Registry's search facility (https://eservices.landregistry.gov.u...frontend-web-0) you can zoom in and eventually pick the location to get the adjacent registered titles. For the sum of £3 you can download a title map plan to confirm or otherwise if the land is part of any private land. You may have to download 2 or 3 plans (£3 each) to be sure.
