  • Excess Mileage Costs Passed Onto Link Debt Collection Company

I have recently voluntarily terminated my contract with Ford Finance. I did this in writing and have fulfilled the set criteria for being eligible to do this. I've paid 50% of the total amount payable and I have returned the car in reasonable condition. They sent me a letter asking for an excess mileage charge and a pro rata charge for the days I had the vehicle until they came and picked it up. My case got forwarded to the complaints team at Ford and without anyone contacting me it has been passed onto Link a debt collection company.

Today I received a letter from Ford saying that they have investigated the case and still want the money owed which is £500! What do I do? Is there anything else I can do to not have to pay this because as far as I'm aware i dont necessarily have to pay them anything. Is there a draft letter or anything i can send to Link to get rid of this? I wanted to ask on here for advice before i rung them back.

    Thanks in advance,

    Alasdair
