  • Car insurance

This morning I thought it would be courteous to advise Hastings Direct that I would not be renewing as the car was now back with the finance company. Bearing in mind this insurance has virtually ran it’s course and expired on 15.12.2019, I was confronted with the comment that there will be £34 cancellation fee!!*

    What a lot of berks!
Email them confirming that you are not cancelling the insurance but allowing it to lapse at renewal.
Confirm your email in hard copy, which you send first class with a free proof of posting certificate from post office.

And ii you know the name of the insurers they placed your business with, write to them as well

This is an intermediaries' charge and is basically Hastings scamming a policyholder.

If Advantage are the insurers , there is no need to write to them.
Following a post on another thread I discovered that Advantage and Hastings Direct are both subsidiaries of Hastings Group Ltd.
Advantage only supply insurance through Hastings Direct.... so their desks are metaphorically if not actually next to each other.*
