My car windscreen was cracked by some debris which fell of a commercial vehicle while on a motorway. At the time I didn't notice that there had been any damage ( crack in the corner, obscured by stickers) so I didn't stop or record the number plate. I do remember the name of the haulage company and obviously the date, time and location it happened.
1.) If I write to the company do they have a legal obligation to provide information enabling me to make a claim on their insurer or whoever is responsible for the vehicle?
2.) I didn't stop or report this incident to the police, so would I just be creating a rod for my own back by pursuing this?
