  • Van damaged my car and drove off -CCTV

A van shaved the mirror off my car. Luckily this was caught on CCTV and I have the reg info.

My question is how do I proceed? I am reluctant to go through my insurer if my excess will go up.

    Thanks.

Report it to police. and it is possible to do a owner check via the DVLA.

Request details about a vehicle's registered keeper: bulk data, anonymised data, mileage data requests, other information requests

you don't have to make a claim on your insurance, but you will need to report the incident to your insurers at renewal.
If the van driver's insurers deal with any claim the incident will be recorded on The Claims and Underwriting Exchange, a central database
