I've just joined this forum for some guidance please. I have recently completed a VT with Ford Credit. I have had the car for 2 out of 4 years. I did the VT because I was doing too many miles. The agreement was 41000 in 4 years and after 2 years I've ended the contact with 53,000. The car was returned in good condition and I made 50% of the payments, I received a letter yesterday stating I have to pay £637.18 by the 18th October or it goes to Link Financial Outsourcing. Firstly no break down of how this was calculated was mentioned in the letter and secondly I don't have that amount of money spare to pay in one sum. Does anyone have any advice on how I proceed please, I've panicked all night .Thanks.

Hello
Nobody can advise you on how to proceed because that is your decision - it is you that needs to decide on how you want to proceed.
The first logical step would have been to ask for a break down of the charges, have you asked for that? If not, why not? Secondly, if you did 53,000 miles in 2 years out of 4 when the contractual limit was only 41,000 I'm sure you can at least hazard a guess as to what the charges might relate to.
The thread below gives you everything you need to decide on whether to pay or not, I would suggest you read up on it and get yourself familiar if you want to defend it. There are hundreds of posts on the same issue as yours, it's nothing new so try doing a search for excess mileage and look up some of the recent threads.

Thanks for link which I had already accessed prior to joining this forum to ask for advice . I haven't phoned them yet because I only read the letter last night. I will be calling them today. Yes you are right I could hazard a guess and at 6p per mile it doesn't equate to the figure they have given. Thankyou for your response though.
