  • Where do I contest a condition offer of fixed penalty?

Hey guys, I recently received a letter from the Met Police in regards to an alleged offence of using a vehicle without a 3rd party insurance. I plan to contest it as I am registered with TWI insurance as a business which covers all vehicles that I would be using while on the road. I have been looking at the letter and I am not sure where I am supposed to sent a written letter of contention as the letter has only provided an address for sending in your license and for sending a payment.

Also, is there anyway to make a complaint about the conduct of the officer who gave me the charge? He didn't even offer me the chance to try to prove that my vehicles are covered. He promptly handed out one of those written tickets and took away my vehicle in the middle of a work day.

you can see the images here; https://imgur.com/a/pLr7zpy

It wont let me upload the images directly I think I may be too new to the forums or maybe the filesize is deemed too large.

    Thanks

At the time of the offence could you produce a document that insured you for this vehicle? the police check with the mib insurance base as it seems no insurance was shown he was right to seize the car To contest this you need proof that at the time of the offence your insurance covered you on the vehicle

A conditional offer of a FPN, you either accept or contest or ignore.
To accept you pay and submit your licence.
To contest you can write to the issuing office, enclosing a copy of your proof, as per the bit on the form that says about contesting the matter and hope they drop it. otherwise it proceeds to court.
Ignore and you will receive a court summons and in court you plead not guilty and produce evidence of your insurance, and request your costs.

On a slightly different level, are you a trader with a trader's policy.?
Are you sure your policy covers you for any vehicle any time any purpose?
I only suggest you check the small print of your policy as some trader's policies only cover whilst in course of trade, and there may be other restrictions
      which mean you weren't covered.
