  • Notice of Intent to Prosecute

Hi all, I need some advice so wondering if anyone can help me out.

Last September I was caught handling my mobile phone, I was then pulled over and the police gave me 7 days to produce as I did not have both parts of my license. When I got to the police station the police that was handling the paperwork informed me my license had expired so he told me to go straight to the post office and re-apply. My new license arrived after the 7 days had expired and I didn't go back because I was out of time.
I got a letter last week from the court saying they intend to prosecute and I have 14 days to respond. I am being charged with:
    1. Handling a mobile phone
    2. Failing to produce
    3. Driving without a valid license (points 2 and 3 are possible alternatives as I cannot produce if I don't have a valid license)

I plan to plea guilty so I presume I will get 6 points and up to £1000. What is bothering me is - Do I explain to the court under that I went to produce my license and it had expired? If I explain this will there be further charges and fines?

Thanks in advance for any advice.
