Parking at Peel Centre, Stockport

I received a letter from the Excel Parking Service who operate the car park the Peel Centre in Stockport issuing me with a fine for not correctly entering my car reg details on my ticket. I've parked there many times before and entered my reg details as required, paid for my ticket and went off shopping. However, I didn't check the ticket and it wasn't until I received the letter from Excel that I realised that my reg details had failed to print on the ticket. I have the ticket to prove that I paid and did not over stay my parking period, however because the machine didn't print my reg on the ticket, they're still charging me. The IAS have sided with them and claim that we have no evidence to prove we paid, in spite of sending them a picture of the ticket we purchased. My question is, is there anything we can now do as we're now expected to pay the fine by 16th March? However, I still believe I have been unfairly treated as it's clear that although I failed to check my details had printed correctly on the ticket (as per their ts&cs), we still paid the required fee.

Aren't these charges only enforceable if the Company can prove a financial loss?

Whilst you may have made a mistake (in that the machine didn't register you keying in the plate, or maybe it wasn't done in the right order), you can prove that they have been paid and so have no loss to claim.

Remember it's a charge not a fine.

So this was another machine failure and the VRM was not printed. You have the ticket that shows the driver (or someone) paid. I would just sit tight and wait to see what comes next.
