Council Tax Liability

A friend of mine was evicted from his private rented house and is now in a homeless shelter. His old landlord has told the council that his tenancy didn't end until 2 weeks after his eviction date. Can he be charged the Council Tax for the period after his eviction??

Surely it should be the owner of he property who is now liable??

Debt is like any other trap, easy enough to get into, but hard enough to get out of.

Hi Kati, I would get any support worker helping him to aver that the tenancy ceased on eviction, the LL is trying to avoid any liability. Is the property still empty?
