As I am self employed on low earnings I applied for Council tax reduction back in Oct 2013, the council have asked for this and that paperwork just a delaying tact tic I think. Then they hit me with a bill and said I must pay it or they would be sending in debt collectors. I had no choice but to pay over £600 which I borrowed from family. How can I go about getting this money back? They are not due it I don't earn enough. Thinking of taking them to a small claims court. We are now in April and they have still not decided and expecting me to pay. Any help gratefully received.
Applied in October 2013 for Council tax reduction still waiting lodge appeal.

Unfortunately the odds are stacked against you. You are still supposed to pay pending the outcome of any application for Benefits. If you are self employed will they not accept your accounts as proof then do Profit & Loss once a month.
