Council Tax Advice

Please can someone give me advice. I am a single parent with three daughters. My youngest daughter is 15, my middle daughter attends University and my eldest graduated and lives in Cambridge.

My local council (council tax dept) contacted me to ask for my eldest daughters address. The problem is she is sharing with friends but does not have a tenancy. She just sleeps in the box room.

If I give my local council her address will that get her into trouble? My local council called me at work. They explained they need her address so I can continue to get my 25% discount.

Ask your council under what authority they are using to ask for the information. They don't "need" the address. Is your declaration that she is not with you not sufficient?

Telling them the address shouldn't cause any problems, though if a 25% discount is being claimed there it could be awkward.
