  • Council tax demands and postal address

I wonder if you could help me.
My Mom is in her 70's and lives in a council house n the West Midlands.

My brother divorced from his wife and had his post forwarded to her address. On the back of this the local council is now demanding that my Mom pays some £2000 rent for last year?

This is causing great stress for my mom and I'm worried this is effecting her health. I'd really appreciate some advice before approaching the council.

    many thanks
    T

Hi gonzobrum and Welcome to Legalbeagles,

From what you say the council are assuming your uncle lives with your Mum as his post is sent there..
I take it he can prove he lives elsewhere ?

Which local authority is involved in this matter?
Life is a journey on which we all travel, sometimes together, but never alone.
