      It should be point out that you don't pay council tax whilst in prison/jail

        Signing in for one post. The absolute maximum under the legislation is three months. It is viewed very much as a last resort and is avoided if at all possible.

        If you can pay anything at all, £5 per week online or via telephone, do so on a regular basis. Even if it's only £1 or £2.

        Also if you have to go to court, take an Income and Expenditure form with you to show you've thought about it.

        They only really improison for won't pays, not can't pays.

          Section 8 (f)
          The order in the warrant shall be that the debtor be imprisoned for a time specified in the warrant (which shall not exceed three months), unless the amount stated in the warrant is sooner paid
