  • Council Tax Exempt !

    Good afternoon

Does anyone know how much land you require to be come a farmer as I understand they are council tax exempt. I already have a holding number for small holding but can't find anywhere on the net to upgrade to a farmer.

Francis, I've checked two local councils to me and there is no exemption for council tax.
However, Directgov: Apply for an exemption from council tax
The link above allows you to go to your local council website. On that site look up exemptions and it will tell you. Farmers did not fall within the two councils I looked at.

If you are exempt from council tax then you may well be liable for business rates.

The example of business rates I have is from Stroud

Thanks, I never thought about business tax, I think a little more digging
is required. In the meantime if I find anything out I will post it here incase
        someone else is interested.

"Although scalar fields are Lorentz scalars, they may transform nontrivially under other symmetries, such as flavour or isospin. For example, the pion is invariant under the restricted Lorentz group, but is an isospin triplet (meaning it transforms like a three component vector under the SU(2) isospin symmetry). Furthermore, it picks up a negative phase under parity inversion, so it transforms nontrivially under the full Lorentz group; such particles are called pseudoscalar rather than scalar. Most mesons are pseudoscalar particles." (finally explained to a captivated Celestine by Professor Brian Cox on Wednesday 27th June 2012 )

Severe mental incapacity is another reason for someone to be disregarded for CT, as would be a student on a full-time course, a student nurse, an apprentice or a young person studying for A-levels. Foreign citizens who may neither lawfully work nor claim benefits are also disregarded.

As for land, perhaps the OP should ask someone to kick him in the goolies? :tinysmile_grin_t:

Then there was the chap whose father-in-law to be promised him, when he got married, he'd have five acres and a cow...

Ten years later, he was still waiting for the land.
