Council Tax Issue

Hi all, thanks for taking a few mins to read.

I owe council tax for a 2 week period from 16th May 2017 to 31 May 2017.
I didn't realise until a bailiff arrived at my old landlord's place about an hour ago(who called me).
The charge was about £50 but is now around £600.
I've never received any letters(although they said I have) as they were sending them to a place I lived over 10 years ago.
Paying £50 is no problem as I do owe it, but the additional charges are unfair.
Does anyone have any thoughts as it was over 5 years ago and they only requested a bailiff in April of this year 2022?

Hi John

Email Council and the Bailiffs, explain what's happened, that you hadn't been made aware, had you been made aware, then you would of paid the £60.

If you have evidence that you had moved, forward that to the Council.

Before you email, check the Council's website ref outstanding Council Tax.
