  • Neighbours title plan includes our property

To cut a long story short - the original owner of our property divided his land into two plots. A new home was built on one plot and the existing home was sold separately. I purchased the property that was originally on the land and the new build was sold shortly after. For some unknown reason our conveyancer failed to register our ownership for 2 years - and when they did put in an application it was delayed due to an existing application on the land. Today I found out that the neighbours title plan shows both plots. My solicitor is now attempting to resolve the issue and register our ownership of our property. Now obviously there has been some huge error here - but can anyone shed any light on how this could have happened? And what could happen going forward?

will your neighbour cooperate in applying to correct both titles?
Lawyer (solicitor) - retired from practice, now supervising solicitor in a university law clinic. I do not advise by private message.
