Can I get previous repair information from Housing Association?

I bought my house last year, which is a semi-detached, and the neighbouring house is owned by a Housing Association.

I had some building work done to rectify a known problem affecting both houses. This problem existed long before I bought the property. I won't go into the specifics now because it would detract from my actual question, but the previous owner of my house, and the neighbouring tenants, have both mentioned failed previous repair attempts. However, the Housing Association are now claiming that the work we had done has caused problems for the neighbours (the same problem that existed before).

Do I have the right to information from the Housing Association regarding any previous attempts they have made to rectify the problem. Obviously this information would make it easier for me to claim that the problem pre-existed any work I have had done, and so was not caused by me?

You could try a FOI (Freedom of information) request.

Thanks paulajayne. The housing association is North Hertfordshire Homes, and they don't appear to be on the list on the website you linked to. Does that mean that they are not a public authority? Other housing associations do appear on the list.

They are a limited company so a polite written request would be the best place to start.

Do you know if the insurance was involved, and if so, did they do the work ( or they arraing someone ) . If it was through the insurance, depending on the type of work ( like roof ) there might have been a CERT for compleation. . If that was the case, then they insure the work for 10 years if i remeber correctly. You just cal the origional owners insurance co ( or managing co ) to come back.

If it was works doen by the prior owner, then its difficult, but if teh housing assosiation did the work, then that would be more or less the same as above and they would do the work

However, the Housing Association are now claiming that the work we had done has caused problems for the neighbours (the same problem that existed before).

Get them to state clearly what the problem is, and why its not there fault.

this intersting as home group ltd use mitie plc arae uk mk office all workmen work from home, get sent jobs on ipads, yet not one im offere past year every keep to lawful duty of care on offer goods serivces ie, as ones life long illness high perosnal care needs ,, means any offer goods serivces ,ie, repairs require after 12.30pm apointment with clear, how repair job be offered... as past yr time and time again they faling me,

most resently since 11.7.2017 today ie friday last email back to now , my last email again 15.9.2017, again refers to my clear, requirements on seroiuis dispreair on wet room floor,, no shower use of,,, im been here 2009, 2017, cuts backs in uk soical housing, means a call centre,, whom no idea whom this is out source csc, to another company,, It systems not link up,, to aid disbaled people needs to make sure eqaul acesss to hosuing repairs,
