I am at the end of my tether with my house sale (2nd property). I am very close to a completion date but it is taking such a long time to get a date from my solicitor. The last I heard last week was that my buyer's solicitor is not quite ready to complete and that they will contact my solicitor in a few days. The buyer (as far as I am aware) is not selling, just buying my property and this has been going on since March when I got the confirmation letter that she was buying. I was told this should have taken 6 - 8 weeks and it has now been 4 months whereby I have had to pay 2 mortgages and 2 council taxes and it is a financially draining time for me. How can I chase this up without being too pushy? I have contacted my Estate Agent also to ask them to push it along. I understand that there isn't a problem but why is it taking so long? does anyone have any idea what to do in this situation? thanks

Re: My house sale is taking so long to complete
if you have exchanged initial contracts, there is usually a time set to complete by ( 90 days sometimes ), i think, after that, you can ask for costs to be recovered, or withdraw to allow another sale.
all depends on your contract with the agent.
If they buyer is a first time buyer, there are a few extra obstacles to get over at the mo, 3-4 months, is more getting back to normal, how it was before the property boom.crazy council ( as in local council,NELC ) as a member of the public, i don't get mad, i get even

Re: My house sale is taking so long to complete
There are so many conditions that all legal and administrative people involved have to make sure are complied to, it can be a bit of a nightmare at times
the purchasers sols, have to check were any deposits have come from, and confirm a number of other details, sometimes the mortgagee cos ask for stuff at the last min as well.crazy council ( as in local council,NELC ) as a member of the public, i don't get mad, i get even
