Equipment in rented property.

A couple have just moved into a rented house that is in very good order with a new boiler and central heating, electric cooker, open fire, and carpeting / floor covering and a new fitted kitchen but although there is a space and connection points for fridge, freezer, and washing machine, none are provided and they were told that they would have to buy them themselves but could of course take them when they leave.
Do not those things have to be provided by the landlord? .

Nope! Bet there's no TV either, and landlord doesn't have to provide them with one just because they ain't got one. Though their lucky they got a cooker, as a landlord doesn't have to provide one!

They can ask the local council for help with cost of buying white goods and furniture etc, if they are not on benefits, but on a low income and can not afford it themselves. Or if they are on benefits they may be eligible for a budgeting loan via the DWP.
