  • mortgage payment extenxion

Hi everyone, just seeking some advice please, a colleague of mine has just returned to work after a long illness, and fell behind with the mortgage payments. I helped sort out a payment plan for her which meant it was interest only plus £60.60 on top to pay off any arrears. She is back at work know and is able to pay more. The issue she has is that the mortgage is up in 5 months, can she have an extension on the mortgages term.
    Thanks for a friend

Yes, it is possible to extend the mortgage term, but it does depend on the lender.
They will take into account the borrower's age (eg some will not extend beyond the 75th birthday) and if a leasehold property, the years remaining on the lease.
Best contact the lender and discuss it with them.
