Re: Council ignoring me, what to do next?

[QUOTE=henrygregory;459572]My golly, what a debate this has caused!
I do have a permanent disablement, but have never applied for a disability card for the car as I feel far too many people abuse it and although I may well qualify (I have a life long condition which deteriorates with age), I don't think I really need one. I have always been able to park fine at home and equally fine at work, so it is a door to door scenario for me with no walking in between. Seems a little over the top to go for one of these badges, just because I can't park at home. If everyone who had a disability, applied for one of these cards, there would not be enough spaces for disabled people.

I should have made it more clear, but when I contacted the council, I wanted them to address the problem on behalf of all residents (I was not just considering myself). Disabled or not, it must be an utter nightmare for the other folk who return home from a hard days' work and can't find anywhere to park their vehicle. I strongly believe that it is the council's responsibility to tackle the problem. If it means going through the process of applying for a badge and wasting all of that time and resources, maybe I should go for it? Seems madness!
How they can just keep ignoring someone is beyond me. If I behaved like this at work, I wouldn't have a job next week.[/QUOTE

You just got to stop thinking like this my friend.
If you are disabled and your condition is permanent and gets worse over time, then you are entitled to apply for a Blue Badge.
You are not' abusing the system' if your condition is as you describe.
I got mine because I have acute COPD and need to lug oxygen bottles on exertion.
COPD being incurable, and deteriorating over time. I applied and got one on appeal.
Instead of worrying about where other people park, just worry about where you are going to park.
Remember, by this time next year your condition may very well have deteriorated.

Raise a formal complaint with the council regarding their staff refusing to reply. Write an account of the affair to date and send it directly to the CEO. Copy your MP in on the correspondence (make sure that you put 'cc. [insert name] MP' at the bottom).

If the letter to the CEO gets you nowhere, ask your MP to take it up directly. There's an election coming, so now is a good time to get things done.

          emquirer has a good point.
I never bother with the usual enquiries. I go straight to the top.
Usually gets things done a lot quicker.
I sent over ten emails into Hackney Council, not one reply.
Letter to the Chief Executive of the council, and hey presto, immediate action from about three departments.......
So do what enquirer says and do get the MP involved, that's what they are paid for.

If they issue resident only permits, then you will have to pay for the bloody things.
You will also have to pay for your visitors permits/tickets.
If you are a two car family or more, you will have to buy a permit for each one.
Each additional permit costs more than the first one.
It's a con, another way of collecting revenue.

summit a complaint to your local council and follow there procedure
if you are not happy with there responce then pass this matter to Local goverment ombudsman which are there to oversea local council
or buy a sign from ebay approx £2/3 which does the trick because it looks official.....Disable driver contance use
                My father is happy!
ps your are subject of discrimation and its totally disgraceful that you are being ignored

I don't think you would have much chance of a discrimination claim, unless you register as disabled.

You don't need to registered disable to be disable! Have you heard about the new Mentel Health Act 2010?

Try this In your local area they are disability charities that provide all the help and deal with the council or so pay the council to mark the lines but the disabilty charities it should be free
                    good luck

                      BeingDUN is correct.
I have just had a glance at the Act, and you would be considered disabled.
You really should apply for a Blue Badge, followed by an application for a disable parking bay.
