  • Housing Benefit after Right to Buy

We bought my mother's house under the right to buy scheme, myself and my wife as joint applicants (after living in the house for 1 year). We bought the house outright with no mortgage. My mother paid no money into the house herself however she was the tenant. We have been living together over a year but my wife and my mother have fallen out. If my mother transferred her share in the house to us could she then claim housing benefit on another place? Or would this be considered deprivation of capital? Things are not urgent right now but might become so. All three of us are on the deeds meaning none of us can claim housing benefit right now and we are all on low incomes/benefits. Is our only option to sell the house, live off the capital and only then when it is gone claim HB?
