    Re: n power

Im just a bit confused as the boiler is off and sealed so how can an independent engineer test anything?

      Re: n power

Did the engineer who condemned the boiler brush or spray any soapy solution around pipework, especially around connections? This is to detect gas leaks.

When you speak to EH and TS on Monday, tell them what the engineer has done and the ones before have and have not done, and ask what you should do and be guided by what EH and TS tell you.

Do you have any documentation left by the engineers who called previously? If so, keep this safe as EH, TS and GasSafe may wish to see this.

Mention GasSafe when you speak to EH and TS and see what they have to say.

TS are quoting the Supply of Goods and Services Act 1982 as there has been a failure to exercise reasonable care and skill in the provision of a service. However, there are also issues of health and safety as you could have suffered carbon monoxide poisoning as well as the risk of an explosion. Have you spoken to the Health & Safety Inspectors at your local council yet? If not, speak to them asap and see if they deal with this sort of incident. If not, ask if the Health & Safety Executive deal with it and ask for a telephone number.

                  Re: n power

Sorry I haven't been on to update but been away, so I contacted n power as the consumer helpline said they said would investigate but they contacted and Said no engineer at fault and will do nothing about it advised us to contact citizens advice.
So I will now contact the above as advised. You can not contact trading standards direct you go through to the consumer helpline they REF to trading standards.

This involves public safety. You and your family could have suffered CO poisoning, which can be fatal, not to mention the potential risk of an explosion, which could have taken your home and neighbouring properties with it. That is how serious your case actually is. For Npower to treat such a matter in the cavalier manner they have is deeply disturbing.

First thing tomorrow morning, without fail, ring your local Environmental Health Department and ask to speak to a Health and Safety Inspector. They may deal with the matter themselves or refer you to the appropriate inspectorate at the Health and Safety Executive. If you have the name and GasSafe registration number for the engineer who botched the inspection and put you and others at risk, ring GasSafe and find out what their procedures are in such situations. Ring them after you have spoken to Environmental Health.

Not to worry. Make sure you speak to Environmental Health tomorrow. I shudder to think how many others may have been put at risk by this engineer. Look at the situation in this way and will see why I am saying what I am.

Ok I have called environmental health and they do not seem that interested!! I spoke to a lady who said sounds like you need to take this up with N Power!! I have left a message with a man she said that I needed to talk to so I am waiting fro him to return my call.
I have found out from searching the net that there was a problem with combustion on these boilers and they needed a different part fitted in them in 2011, I called them today and they said my boiler was one that was affected but too late to get the parts now as the recall too old.
Really feel that I am not getting anywhere with this and all this time N Power are getting away with this.

Did you speak to an office clerk at EH or a Health and Safety Inspector? If the former, ring again and ask to speak to a HSI. If they seem uninterested, contact the Health & Safety Executive (HSE) for advice and guidance.
