I've had an unjustified threat from my mortgage company that they may "appoint a Law of Property Act Receiver to manage my property". What are the implications of this? Do they need to go to court to do this?

I should add that our mortgage is NOT a buy to let, even though the mortgage company are claiming it is, in their letter.I am not a solicitor. Please seek your own legal advice before relying on my comments in this forum!
