  • land registry charge against my property

    Evening all,

I have a query, I took a secured loan out against my property for £5000 with progressive financial ( now welcome finance ) back in may 2006. the company changed its name to welcome finance not sure when the date was.. I then toped up my loan in 2007 under the company name of welcome finance. ive just checked my land registry and the register still dates may 2006 progressive financial. im not sure where I stand as im having a lot of issues with welcome at the minute threatening action against my house ( all verbal of course ) but someone told be they have no hold over my property as they did not update the title deeds when I toped up my loan and they are saying that the loan is unenforceable.. I am not sure how true this is and really want some clarification on this.. I have more info if needed

    regards

If Progressive became Welcome simply by virtue of a name change, then it's still the same company. Check your paperwork to confirm that the company number is the same.

From looking at both companies they had different company numbers

      Welcome finance - 00133540
Progressive Financial Services Limited - 01682540

So that makes them two separate legal entities. Though the Charge may have been assigned over to Welcome, they still clearly did not update their claim on the deeds. Also isn't Welcome Finance in a lot of bother at them moment?!
