• Decent Homes Standard?

Hi people, My home (council house) was to be modernised under the Decent Homes Standard and in approx 2008 the roof was replaced and I was given the opportunity to choose the colour of kitchen and type of new door etc, My next door neighbour (only other council owned house in the St) had her home modernished and completed in 2008 but to this day my home hasn't been repaired or modernised (I still have single pane glassed windows housed in rotting wood frames) My enquires/complaints have all fallen on deaf ears. (I know the DHS scheme ended in 2010) now the Council are trying to get the house back by subterfuge as I know they were compelled by law to do the work and had received the funding for it. I really need advice on how to tackle/expose them over their failure,. I cannot secure any free legal advice (trust me I've tried) Is it possible to show 'proof' that my home should have been included in the scheme etc or would photos of my home be enough proof for a County Court action? I would appreciate any advice you could give me please. Thanks.

    Hi,

Could you expand on the section I've quoted please? Do you have evidence to substantiate the two big statements you've made?

I don't doubt for one second you're telling the truth - I know someone who is in a similar situation, but if you are going to court sympathy won't help you; ensuring you have solid factual arguments will. :beagle:

Hi, I still have (not in front of me) the paperwork from the then Contractors and a copy of the plans on how the house will look after the work was completed, when work hadn't even started after approx 6months I enquired etc then the same Contractors returned and said that they had lost all my paperwork so could we start again (choosing colours etc) and that was the last I saw of them. I recently checked on the Councils webpage concerning the properties yet to be modernised under the new scheme (Decent homes finished in 2010) and mine wasn't included. When I was offered the tenancy I was assured that during the next 2yrs the house would meet the standard (it's very substandard).

Any chance you can dig it out and scan it up with the wording, or just write the exact wording as it appears?

        Thanks. :beagle:

labman I apologise for the lateness of my reply lol but in Oct 2013 the LA started on me and in a nutshell prosecuted me for 'failing to notify' etc (untrue) and I lost at the Tribunal. Magistrates Court and was evicted but last Thursday at my appeal they offered no evidence so I was free to go and the conviction quashed. I still lost my home and they managed to get rid of me because I threatened to expose them over the modernisation!! If you are still interested all the info you asked for is on here.......http://cmis.sandwell.gov.uk/cmis5/Do...ctNJFf55vVA%3D
Sorry but that is the way it copied.

          Thanks. :beagle:
