  • No hot water for almost 3 weeks!!

As the title says …. we have had no hot water now since the24th April! We have a rented flat and our only source of hot water is an immersion heater with a timer on it. The timer has given up the ghost and we are unable to use the heater at all.
The fault was reported via email to our Letting Agent on 25thApril explaining the problem and giving permission for access to be gained in our absence as the Letting Agent has a key. We heard nothing from him, he was emailed again on 29th April and still nothing, after a further email, we eventually got a reply on Monday 6th May saying that theplumber was in our area that day and would call in if he had time, failing that it would definitely be Tuesday 7th. He didn’t turn up on either day, so on the evening of the 7th, my partner emailed the Letting Agent again asking when someone would be attending. On Thursday 9th , my partner returned home from work so find someone had attended, but nothing had been done, other than to move a few things around the kitchen and throw clothes out of the airing cupboard onto the sofa (we assume this was the plumber, but having had no communication with either him or the Letting Agent it could have been anyone!) There is still no hot water, and not even a note explaining what was happening and when the repair was likely to be undertaken. This is the 2ndtime since January we have been without any hot water, last time it was over 2weeks before the plumber came out, and even then the repair was not completed properly.
Is there anything we can do now, it’s getting beyond a joke having to boil kettles to wash dishes, and borrow friends and neighbours baths etc. We are looking for somewhere else at the moment for a few different reasons, but this is the final straw. I am guessing we can’t make him wait the same amount of time for the rent as we have had to wait for the repairs? lol
    Thanks,
    Kit
