  • Problems with CitiFinancial

We took out a loan with CitiFinancial quite a few years ago that was secured on our property. After financial problems and a lot of dubious advice on CitiFinancial's part we ended up in court obtaining a suspended repossession order, that was over 3 years ago and since then we have never missed a payment.
Our local council runs a scheme where homeowners can have a no interest loan, and any maintenance that needs doing on the property is done (complete rewiring, kitchen and bathroom in our case), a charge is put on the property but not repaid until the house is sold which we are anticipating will not be for some years yet by that time CitiFinancial will be paid. CitiFinancial stipulated that anything that placed a charge on the property they must be informed of, which the council did, but also telling them that this is a no interest loan, it is doing works that will increase the value of the property, which is beneficial to them too, and will in no way affect Citi's security on our property.
Citi have come back today to the council to say no they will not allow it, completely gutted, they have said it is because of arrears on the account, which I was probably being too naive thinking that since we have not missed a payment in over three years they would probably give us a bit of leeway.
    Any advice anyone?

    Re: Problems with CitiFinancial

I would be inclined firstly to contact the CEO of CitiFinancial asking if s/he would overturn the decision and stating everything you have here. I'd then consider going to the OFT and see if they would intervene as this appears to me to be an unfair trading practice.

Can the company with whom you have your mortgage (first charge) do anything?

I have already emailed the CEO, but I will speak to the OFT aswell, and will keep you posted.

Does anyone know who the CEO of Citi is and his email address please? Just want to make sure I have emailed the correct person.

        Thanks

You presumably if you've already e-mailed him! I did question how yesterday as Citifinancial has been taken over as I spent some considerable time trying to find the e-mail address for you yesterday.

They are now part of One Main Financial, but I was not able to locate a CEO in this country for them either. Possibly part of Citigroup?

            Re: Problems with CitiFinancial

I did Google who the CEO might be, and found an email address, but it was in New York, I emailed it anyway, maybe it could point me in the right direction.
All I was asking was had I emailed the correct person, did anybody here know of another email address (as sometimes Google can be wrong).
That is all I was saying!

No problem - no criticism inteded. I couldn't find anyone in this country. I'll try to have another hunt later for you, see if I can find anything.

All I read said everything had to be put in writing to Head Office.

I have tried writing to Head Office before they don't even respond. Was going to ring them on Monday and ask them, maybe knowing that I am going to do that will make them stop dragging their heels.
They just seem such a petty company, it makes no difference to them if the work is done in fact it benefits them.
I appreciate your help, and hope maybe you can find an address or something that I cannot.

                  Hi Marie,

You've set a good challenge there! The CEO is William Mills known as Bill Mills so my best guess, from other Citigroup workers would be William.Mills@citi.com or Bill.Mills@citi.com

The address I would write to would be the one at the very bottom of this webpage:

International Banking | Current Accounts | Citibank

There's also a Contact Us number there, so you may get further using that. Not the easiest to track down are they!

Sent and email to William Mills as that was the right name for the email address. Also composing a letter to back it up. Quite honestly don't know what else to do, we waited so long to get to the top of the list with the council, and then only found out we needed their approval literally weeks ago.
We did have a complaint filed against Citi with the FSA which is "resolved" now, as far as the FSA are concerned anyway, but I am now at a loss as to where to turn. The work does need doing, we cannot afford to have it done ourselves, just wait around I guess for someone to get back to me from Citi.

Just thought that I would give you an update. Received a letter from Citi this morning, after much waffling on from them about arrears and complaints being upheld etc, the last paragraph states that they will allow the charge to be placed. After writing firstly to Vikram Pandit who is the CEO in New York it was apparently dealt with within 4 hours.
Really pleased cannot wait for the work to start, and thanks for all your help. xx

"Although scalar fields are Lorentz scalars, they may transform nontrivially under other symmetries, such as flavour or isospin. For example, the pion is invariant under the restricted Lorentz group, but is an isospin triplet (meaning it transforms like a three component vector under the SU(2) isospin symmetry). Furthermore, it picks up a negative phase under parity inversion, so it transforms nontrivially under the full Lorentz group; such particles are called pseudoscalar rather than scalar. Most mesons are pseudoscalar particles." (finally explained to a captivated Celestine by Professor Brian Cox on Wednesday 27th June 2012 )

                              Hi all,
Would like some advice regarding Citi again, basically they agreed to let the charge be placed, the solicitors for the loan company (5 lamps), received the letter from them allowing the go ahead, apparently they did not realise Citi had put a 30 day clause in it, and they did not send the letter to the land registry till a few days after the 30 days were up. Citi are now refusing to let the charge be placed again. I am literally at the end of my tether, and just feel like crying.
                              Any advice please??
