      Re: veilside's Carbon Monoxide poisoning

I am glad you got this sorted. I had a similar problem with carbon monoxide emissions from a very old boiler in a rented flat.

I had six weeks with no hot water, and three weeks with no heating either, in the very cold part of the early winter, temperatures were falling -15. I was badly affected by the carbon monoxide and developed ME-type symptoms, whcih made it even harder to deal with fighting about all this.

The landlord kept failing to deal with it and I said environmental health needed to check it out as none of the 'repairs' done had sorted it out, and I was worried about continuing danger to myself and others (the flat was in a block of flats)

After involving environmental health I was given a month's notice to quit but told to leave asap.

Did you get your deposit back?

Did the environmental health wallahs prosecute that appalling landlord?

I hadn't had to pay deposit, so there was no scope for dispute. I had had to pay 6 months' rent in full in advance due to my poor credit but did not have to pay deposit as well as this. However, I was not in a position to repeat this without time to save up and organise myself, as I have no facilities to borrow money at all.

Environmental health said they would visit and take it up.

The landlord sold the property to somoene else, this was why he did not want the expense of installing a new boiler. Scumbag !
