I hope this makes sense
our house was built in 1890 (Scotland) and I’m sure the sewage pipe work has been update since then but we have no record when it was done.
we have no independent/private access to the back garden apart from through the house. To the side of the house is a wall separating us from a church.
our sewage pipe goes under the wall (manhole in our garden) and goes down the side of the wall to the pavement meeting the public side of the pipework.
our issue is at some point the church had planted huge bushes and a sign post all the way down above the pipe. The pipe is now needing replaced due to damage and age, after viewing old photos that’s why we know about the bushes. I’m convinced they have possibly contributed to the damage.
my query is ~ once it leaves our property and enters theirs, who has responsibility? They are a savvy bunch and we have no communication.
