  • Should property management trust be part of a redress scheme?

    Advice would be welcome.

I own my home with a mortgage and when I purchased the property was told there was an annual charge to a Trust for the maintence of a small area of communal grass round the corner of the house. No contract was signed between me and the Trust.

Long story short I haven't paid for various reasons and the trustee of the Trust has become persistent knocking on my door demanding the money.

No proper invoice has ever been issued and no proof of invoices for the works claimed to have been carried out the communal area have been provided. I've only ever had a letter put through the door asking me to transfer £250 to an account and a breakdown of charges paid from the account, but with no company names or proof of invoices.

After having a look online the Trust isn't a registered company on companies house. My question is, should the Trust be a registered company and should they be part of a redress scheme as they are managing the maintence of the communal ground?

    Thank you
