  • Add someone to my Title Deeds

Hi can someone please help. I want to add my cousin to my title deeds of my second home. There is no mortgage on this. I am leaving the property to her in my Will but I would like her added to title deeds now. What form do I complete ? Is it the TR1 ?

I am not a conveyancer, so cannot help with the form.

But can I check that you understand that "adding someone to the deeds" means that you are making that person a co-owner?

Have you discussed and agreed the basis of this joint ownership? Is this person to acquire your share automatically on your passing (joint tenants), or will you each have a separate and distinct share (tenants in common)? If the latter, will you be equal owners, i.e. a 50% share each in the equity? You should consider a formal agr3, perhaps a declaration of trust.
Lawyer (solicitor) - retired from practice, now supervising solicitor in a university law clinic. I do not advise by private message.

Litigants in Person should download and read the Judiciary's handbook for litigants in person: https://www.judiciary.uk/wp-content/..._in_Person.pdf
