  • Flooding due to neighbour

Last December my neighbour decided to basically build a dam on an unadopted road that’s behind his property as when it rains heavy the water from that road runs into his back garden and I’m presuming he had enough of it. However for the past week with the heavy rain we have had on 2 separate occasions because of this dam he built it’s now flooded my garage. Twice!!! Council won’t do nothing, United utilities the first time cleaned drains but the second time when they came out the day after the second flood and it started to rain again the man saw what was happening. Basically the surface water coming down a hill at the end of the road, because there is that much it’s flowing into our road, and what he has built is channeling in to my property and garage. Can anyone help I’m at my wits end and it’s due to rain today and Sunday

Have you contacted your local councillor directly?

Firstly send him a letter asking him to sort it out so it doesn't flood your property, if its not sort-able that way, contact the water company , then your insurance.

But give the dude chance to sort it first
crazy council ( as in local council,NELC ) as a member of the public, i don't get mad, i get even

You may need to find a solution that involves managing the water flow, as your neighbour has done. Admittedly, that may pass the problem down the line, meaning that a broader solution will be needed.
