Next door borders our back fence where they have a side alley, and we noticed today that they have put up a sloped corrugated plastic roof along it which projects to the fence line and very slightly over it. In other words its quite clear that any rain, especially heavy rain, will cause all the water from the roof to run over into our garden and into the flower bed below. Of course I know that I should speak to them first, but forearmed is always a good thing so does anyone have an idea of where I stand with this. It will probably mean that any prolonged or heavy rain will cause the ground / flower bed to become waterlogged and probably the fence will have water running down it also which wont be good in the long term.

Speak to your neighbour!
Legally, this could be a nuisance (in the legal meaning of that word), entitling you to take action for damages and an injunction requiring the situation to be remedied. But do you want to go down that route?Lawyer (solicitor) - retired from practice, now supervising solicitor in a university law clinic. I do not advise by private message.
Litigants in Person should download and read the Judiciary's handbook for litigants in person: https://www.judiciary.uk/wp-content/..._in_Person.pdf
