  • Right to buy help

    Hi.

I’ve recently split from my wife. She’s moved out and wants her share of the equity currently in the house.

there’s a couple of issues that I need advice on, if anybody can help?

we bought the house from our local housing association 3 years ago. There’s 2 years remaining on the 5 clause that states the discount has to be paid back if the house is sold.

I’ve asked the ha if the discount is repayable if I buy my wife out? We are both down as joint owners 50/50 and I will pay her half of the equity to buy her 50% share. And then continue to live in the house.

the ha are very unhelpful and won’t give us an answer until we instruct a solicitor. Which unfortunately will cost the full conveyancing fee for me to find out.

does anybody know anything about the above?

    thanks
