  • Boundry Hedge

Hi, I'm looking for a little advice, my lovely neighbour has removed a 1.5m section of boundary hedge and replaced it with new clippings (different type) leaving a big gaping hole in the hedge. as i understand the hedge belongs to both properties and we have to maintain our sides. we were not consulted regarding this, were do i stand legally?

If your neighbour is as lovely as you say, you will not want to fall out with her.

It is unusual for a hedge to belong to the owners on both sides. Generally a hedge is planted on one side of the actual boundary or the other.

Your deeds / Land Registry title entries may assist in showing where the boundary is - but they may not provide sufficient clarity.

Whatever you do, avoid creating a neighbour dispute. The new hedge will grow back, and if it is bloody leylandii that was removed, well good riddance.
