50% ownership of property

if i own 50% of my property, can the other party that also owns 50% make me pay rent to him or her because i live in the property and they don't?

General rule is that one co owner cannot charge the other rent unless the one in occupation of the premises has ousted the other or refuses to allow them to live in the premises.
