  • Rental contract clarification

My son is renting and received a notice to quit as the owner is selling the house. Absolutely no problem there. He is required to vacate by end of May or give 2 months notice.

However it is HE that is buying it. How does he stand? When (if) contracts are exchanged / completion agreed is all commitment to notice cancelled?

If he is buying it he only has to ask his solicitor the question. It is probably a legal requirement that the tenant (whoever) has to be given notice in law.

OK thank you. Seems odd that he has to give 2 months notice when the owner is actually him! I will tell him.
