  • Troubles with neighbour

Hi, I'm currently having problems with a neighbour and after a bit of advice. I've lived in a rented property for 2 years, paid my rent on time, always asked permission when wanting to do something with the house etc. I have a 2 and a 5 year old and live alone with them.

This week I had an email stating that I've had a complaint made about me. Apparently I've moved my partner in, I'm having parties (I've had one birthday party in the afternoon this year with covid etc), saying me and the kids are making loads of noise. They've also said they've seen my partner taking drugs at the side of the house and saying he's been leaving bags with white powder left on the drive and just general area in the front of the house (he doesn't do drugs)

The other issue is they've reported me for my parking. My partner parks on the drive when he visits but they've said that when I park I cause an issue and cause people to walk on the road and it's unsafe, which is also false.

I think I know which neighbour it is because they would be the only ones who would be able to see down the side of the house and they're the only ones who know who I rent off of because they're friends with the letting agent as well as the landlord, but can't prove it so can't go talk to them personally about it. I've taken pictures of proof of the parking and the bags they've found (which was from a wallpaper paste packet) but is there any way I can sort this? Will the council contact me if a complaint has been made?

Thanks and sorry for the long post

    Hi K-J15

So the email from the landlord. I really don't think you have anything to worry about. You could write to the landlord disputing all those allegations (as you have above with explanations). I doubt the council will be remotely interested (they no doubt get false reports all the time, their resources are limited) unless hard facts are produced.

Just be aware that 'overzealous' neighbors exist.
