We are looking to support a family member to purchase their council house through the right to buy scheme, we have read that you must have lived at the property for 12 months but do not need to be on the tenancy. Is there a way to get around this, if we move in with them for the 12 months they may loose benefits, but we still have our own property to pay for so couldnt contribute to that property as well as our own. Any help and advise appreciated.
