Assured Shorthold Tenancy - Term

Hi,

I have a tenancy agreement which states it is an Assured Shorthold Tenancy but has the following term wording: "The term of the tenancy is a periodic tenancy commencing on 12th March 2021 and continuing on a 6 monthly basis until the landlord or tenant terminates the tenancy". I pay monthly. The first 6 months is up soon and I want to continue living here but may need to move for work (not sure when) and don't want to be tied to another 6 months.

I have agreed over email with my landlord to change it to a 2 monthly basis.

How can I go about amending the tenancy agreement for us both to sign without compromising any of my rights?

Haven't you amended the AST by writing to the landlord and the landlord agreeing to it? I don't think you need to do anything else.

As far as I am aware once the fixed term ends the AST becomes periodic - neither party has to "do" anything.
