  • End of Assured Shorthold Tenancy

Hoping someone can help. My tenants are coming to the end of their AST in October and they have given no indication that they want to renew to the letting agent. If I wanted to sell the property what's the procedure? How much notice do I need to give them? Do I assume they are not renewing?

Ask the letting agent to find out.

Coronavirus Legislation has now been introduced, so landlords must now give tenants 6 months’ notice before they can evict until March 2021, notice period prior to seeking possession through the courts in most cases, including  section 21 non fault evictions The tenants can of course leave earlier if they wish.

The tenancy does not end in October, it just will carry on as a periodic tenancy.
