  • What should I know about planning permission?

We’re planning to extend our loft and make it a bedroom for our youngest. Of course, it’s challenging to come up with good interior design and pick the materials to use, but one aspect of the project that we aren’t that familiar with is planning permissions. Can you tell us the major points that we should know about this? We’re even considering to hire this planning permission Middlesbrough based expert to help us out. Thanks in advance!

First act is to speak to your local planning department.
They are there to facilitate planning and should offer some initial advice.
After that your architect should see the matter through for you.

Are you planning to use a builder for the project? They can often give you advice about it. As long as it is a reputable builder, of course! Also, a lot of planning permission rules have been relaxed in recent years, due to the fact that the government wants to encourage more house building. Sometimes you don't always need planning permission, but the build must meet the required regulations.
