  • Party Wall

We live in an end terrace house, next to our house is a builders yard. The owner of the builders yard has been granted planning permission to build a house on the yard. We objected to the plans on the basis that we do not want another house built onto ours, parking is limited, a new build house would look odd attached to our house. Our objections received no response and planning was approved. We now have a party wall solicitor coming to meet us to discuss what needs to happen next. Now planning has been granted so we are unsure what more we can do. We have small children and are worried this is going to have a serious impact on our home life for a long time. What I need to know, are we entitled to compensation if our house is going to become a terraced house? Are we entitled to compensation to grant them access? Do we have to give them access to our property to build? Do we have to let them build onto our end terrace wall? I never wanted to live in a terraced house. I liked having the space at the other side and I understand the land isn’t ours but I just assumed that they would not have been allowed to do it. I need some advice. Thank you.
