Agent refusing deposit refund

Good morning,

i aas looking for some advice, I have a deposit set up with Uk deposit protection services, I have been trying to get my deposit refunded for over a year now but in dispute with my landlord over charges for leaving the property needing cleaning and disposing of items! This was false and l have been in dispute for a year now, I have spoken with Uk deposit protection services today and they have informed me that I can only contact them by email as the landlord has registered my deposit under a different first name other than mine!
So now questioning this can l not request my deposit back in full as if it is registered under a different name from mine then the dispute we have is not the name on the tenancy of the agreement ?

TO add I have now found that they registered the deposit under Matthew not Michael so was l actually even covered as the names was incorrect
