I would imagine that this depends on the "contract" that you signed with them and what the terms were. These firms employ the classic tactics of luring you in with a large figure, get you to sign and then surprisingly there is nothing they can do.

Hi all, unfortunately I signed up with pure legal in 2018 to act for me on my mis sold mortgage, since then I have had the odd phone call but no progress reports or anything until receiving another form in December of 2019 for me & my wife to sign and also asking me to give the reason why I think the mortgage had been mis sold (despite me answering that question 2 years ago!), they got my name wrong on the forms too so I ignored them. I then received a phone call asking why I hadn't sent the forms back & I told them they had got my name wrong & that I thought they were obviously incompetent/con artists. I have now received a threatening letter, warning I may be charged for their work thus far, my instinct is to just ignore them - what would your advice be? I have 7 days to respond. Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

I've just received a letter from them saying that I now owe them for the costs they've incurred in investigating the case! Is this a scam or should I be taking this letter seriously?
How has this progressed for you? I think I am almost at this stage too.
